TechFlow news, according to Coindesk, Fidelity analyst Max Wadington wrote: "Improvements to Ethereum as a database provide Layer 2 users with the opportunity for near-zero transaction fees."
The upgrade will reduce the cost for Layer 2 blockchains to store data on the main blockchain, and this reduction could be passed on to users in the form of lower fees.
Wadington said: "In the short term, users hoping to benefit from these fee changes must sacrifice some decentralization and security by transacting on Layer 2 rather than on Ethereum, which will certainly encourage more users to bridge assets elsewhere."
