TechFlow News — Sandbox founder Sébastien Borget said at last week's NFT Paris conference that Web3 gamers have "lost patience" with games that deploy token incentive models without real utility. Borget noted that many blockchain games have implemented similar token incentives but have been "too slow to deliver" on actual in-game utility for tokens and NFTs. Only a very few projects featuring genuine gameplay and tangible utility have survived the bear market, he added, emphasizing that the current wave of Web3 gaming enables players to enjoy core gameplay from the jump, rather than focusing on "enticing players to buy tokens."
Larsen, founder of Sky Mavis (Axie Infinity), believes the industry has "overcorrected" — moving away from promoting in-game tokenomics toward the notion that "games just need to be fun."
