TechFlow reports that the IRS has announced the hiring of two private sector experts—Ph.D. and attorney Sulolit "Raj" Mukherjee and CPA Seth Wilks—as executive advisors to assist with cryptocurrency and digital asset matters.
These experts will lead the agency’s initiatives on services, reporting, compliance, and enforcement related to digital assets. The IRS referenced funding from the Inflation Reduction Act for technology enhancements and enforcement activities. They also mentioned investigations into specific U.S. taxpayer information as part of the IRS's John Doe summons actions.
