TechFlow reports that Theta Labs, the blockchain-based video delivery network, has announced the launch of the first phase of EdgeCloud on May 1, 2024.
EdgeCloud is an advanced distributed software platform designed to provide developers, researchers, and enterprises with cost-optimized GPU computing power for AI and video processing tasks. Leveraging the Theta Edge Network, the platform boasts one of the world's largest distributed GPU computing networks, with approximately 10,000 edge nodes delivering 77,538 TFLOPS of computational capacity. EdgeCloud also supports smart contracts, enabling computation tasks to be registered on the blockchain and allocated to edge nodes within the decentralized computing network.
The Theta team has collaborated with Lavita.AI, FedML, and Google Cloud to develop an AI model pipeline for video-to-text applications. EdgeCloud will launch in spring, allowing AI developers to easily select and deploy popular models, as well as use familiar tools such as Jupyter notebooks for development.
