TechFlow news, according to Cryptonews, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has opened a public comment period on a proposed rule change that would allow options on Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to be listed and traded.
In a notice released on February 23, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) requested a rule modification to permit options trading for the Bitwise Bitcoin ETF (BITC), Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC), and "any trust holding Bitcoin." As stated in the notice, if the rule change is approved, options will be traded "in the same manner as options on other ETFs listed on the Exchange, including commodity ETFs."
This means options would be subject to regulations regarding listing standards, expiration dates, exercise prices, minimum price increments, position and exercise limits, margin requirements, customer account procedures, and trading halt mechanisms.
