TechFlow news, according to CoinGape, a U.S. attorney has requested a protective order on February 20 due to sensitive information involved in the case against CZ. The U.S. Department of Justice stated that defendant Zhao Changpeng and his defense counsel do not oppose the request for the protective order.
According to U.S. prosecutors, CZ admitted to failing to maintain an effective anti-money laundering program. The submitted evidence includes sensitive witness interviews, third-party financial records, and internal business documents from third parties.
In this motion, the Department of Justice proposed an order restricting public access to any such information. The filing states: "The proposed protective order shall not be disclosed or distributed to anyone other than defense counsel, members of the defense team, and the defendant."
Additionally, the identities of sensitive witnesses will not be disclosed in public filings—similar to recent sealing of unredacted letters and medical records, these witnesses’ identities will remain sealed.
