TechFlow News, Fox journalist Eleanor Terrett posted on X stating that sources told her the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is currently taking a "firmly opposed" stance, with "some internal resistance" at present.
Another source said that the approval of listed Ethereum futures ETFs, along with BlackRock's track record in getting ETFs approved, leads them to believe that a spot Ethereum ETF could launch by late summer. When Eleanor Terrett asked whether Gensler's opaque position on Ethereum’s status as a potential security would have an impact, the source responded that in fact the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) considers Ethereum a commodity, coupled with Ripple's partial court victories establishing that XRP is not a security in secondary market trading, this will make "Gensler’s future attempts to assert that most digital assets are securities an uphill battle."
