TechFlow news, Manta Network has announced a Gas fee compensation plan following the DDoS attack. Any Gas fees paid on Manta Pacific exceeding 0.001 ETH between January 18 at 17:30 and January 20 at 12:30 (UTC+8) will be refunded to users automatically, with no action required from users.
Manta Pacific recently suffered an illegal DDoS attack that severely disrupted access to its RPC services. Manta Network is currently collaborating with authorities and various legal bodies to take action against this unlawful attack. Although the blockchain itself remained intact—continuing normal operations such as block production—users were unable to access many applications or complete transactions due to RPC congestion caused by the attack.
Meanwhile, as RPC services recover from mitigation measures, users have encountered an unusual situation in which Gas prices spiked due to a high volume of user interactions and pending transactions during the illegal DDoS attack.
Manta Network is the first Ethereum Layer 2 built on Celestia, and through Celestia's data availability (DA), users achieve significant Gas cost savings. Within one month, Manta has saved users approximately $1 million in Gas fees. In response, all Gas fees incurred during this incident will be reimbursed to affected users.
