TechFlow reports that the Fantom Foundation has announced, following a governance vote, a reduction in the self-staking requirement for validator nodes from 500,000 to 50,000 FTM, making it easier to operate a Fantom validator node.
Increasing the number of validators helps enhance network security without affecting Fantom's performance, maintaining finality times of 1–2 seconds. Large validators will still dominate transaction finality in the short term.
