TechFlow news, the American screen actors' union (SAG-AFTRA) has reached an agreement with AI voice technology company Replica Studios regarding the use of AI voices in video games. The agreement allows Replica to create and license digital replicas of performers under "fair and ethical" conditions, which can be used in AAA video games and other interactive media projects.
In addition to "minimum conditions," performers retain the right to consent and negotiate, as well as the option to opt out of the "continued use" of their voices in "new projects."
SAG-AFTRA's chief negotiator believes the union achieved all its objectives in negotiations with Replica, ensuring informed consent and fair compensation for members' voices and performances. However, some actors and SAG-AFTRA members have expressed dissatisfaction with the agreement.
