TechFlow news: SlowMist founder Yu Xian warned the community on X about ongoing scam risks. Scammers are sending seemingly legitimate links via direct messages, which actually lead to "backdoor applications" starting with "api.twitter[.]com". Once users grant authorization, scammers can post phishing content from their accounts.
According to investigations, these scammers are linked to the longstanding PinkDrainer group and frequently impersonate well-known journalists, projects, investment firms, and research entities. Users should remain vigilant. If you accidentally click such a link, promptly remove suspicious apps or sessions under "Settings → Security and account access → Apps and sessions".
