TechFlow reports that during Thursday's biweekly call, Ethereum developers discussed their goal of having the Goerli testnet run Dencun on January 17 — the highly anticipated upgrade that will implement "proto-danksharding," reducing fees for Layer 2 rollups and scaling the blockchain by increasing data "blob" space.
"Obviously, if we find any major issues or crazy things before then, we can always cancel it," said Tim Beiko, Protocol Support Lead at the Ethereum Foundation, during the call. "That means ideally we'd publish the fork blog post sometime during the week of January 8, giving people at least a week to update."
