TechFlow News — Web3 communication protocol WalletConnect has released a new decentralization roadmap, aiming to officially launch a permissionless open network by 2025.
The roadmap is divided into four phases:
1. Phase One (current): Begin preparations for a closed network test, expand infrastructure to multiple relays, and prepare for the launch of a permissionless WalletConnect network;
2. Phase Two (Q1 2024): Launch and complete testing of the closed network using a permissioned registry model, enabling multiple parties to read from and write to the database;
3. Phase Three (Q3 2024): Launch and test the open network by establishing a peer-to-peer framework with selected third-party relays, enabling progressive network access while testing participant incentive mechanisms;
4. Phase Four (end of 2025): Officially launch the permissionless open network, transitioning the WalletConnect network into a fully decentralized state collectively operated by a community of infrastructure providers.
