TechFlow news: U.S. federal judge Lewis Kaplan rejected SBF's request to extend the sentencing procedure and delay the interview with the U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services System.
The judge noted that the defense did not object when the sentencing hearing date was initially set. Sentencing could be postponed if the Department of Justice indeed decides to pursue a second trial on additional charges.
Earlier, SBF's lawyers requested on Wednesday to postpone the sentencing hearing originally scheduled for March 28 next year by four to six weeks, citing the possibility that the U.S. Department of Justice may proceed with a second trial on March 11 regarding conspiracy charges related to bank fraud and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
