TechFlow reports that Polygon Labs will cease accepting contributions to its Edge framework, shifting focus instead to the Chain Development Kit (CDK).
Initially developed as an open-source tool under the Apache License 2.0, Edge was designed to facilitate the creation of Ethereum-compatible custom blockchain networks. However, according to a statement, the team’s development priorities have shifted over the past year.
Polygon Labs will now discontinue further development of Edge and instead concentrate on CDK, its next-generation solution—a toolkit designed for building various Layer 2 ZK-Rollups (second-layer networks utilizing zero-knowledge proofs). Chains deployed using CDK are expected to achieve interoperability across a broad network ecosystem.
