TechFlow news: The UK antitrust regulator is considering launching a merger investigation into Microsoft's multi-billion dollar partnership with OpenAI. The regulatory review will assess whether the collaboration constitutes an acquisition of control.
In response to this announcement, Microsoft stated that it holds only a non-voting observer role on the board of directors of the ChatGPT maker. The observer position means Microsoft representatives can attend OpenAI board meetings and receive confidential information, but have no voting rights on matters such as electing or appointing directors.
Prior to the release of this investigation announcement, the ChatGPT maker disclosed that the U.S. tech giant would hold a non-voting seat on its board.
