TechFlow News, Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, revealed in a video blog with The Defiant that he plans to redesign Ethereum's staking mechanism to address performance issues.
He praised the Unspent Transaction Output (UTXO) payment system model and shared his views on integrating new protocols, specifically mentioning private mempools, the account abstraction standard ERC-4337, precompiles, ZK-EVMs, and liquid staking. Among these, he expressed a preference for integrating protocols like account abstraction ERC-4337, while approaches such as private mempools require more caution. He emphasized that any integration involves balancing development flexibility, performance benefits, and risks of centralization.
He also voiced concerns about increasing concentration in Ethereum's liquid staking, noting that providers Lido and Rocket Pool have collectively surpassed 32% of staked supply, suggesting current security mechanisms may not be sufficient.
