TechFlow news — According to Bloomberg, court records show that FTX consultants have been providing federal law enforcement agencies across the United States with information about customer accounts and transaction-related records.
Billing records from consulting firm Alvarez & Marsal reveal that over recent months, company advisors have collected FTX customer data in response to subpoenas from at least five FBI field offices, including extracting specific customer transactions, investigating accounts, and sifting through cloud computing data.
More importantly, FTX customers will ultimately bear the cost of these tasks. Court documents indicate that during July, August, and September, two consultants invoiced over $21,000 for work related to FBI requests.
In a court filing, Alvarez & Marsal stated that in September, in response to a subpoena from the FBI’s Philadelphia office, it obtained transaction data “associated with specific device IDs” from FTX’s cloud computing provider. The firm noted that FTX used Amazon’s cloud services and stored private keys for billions of dollars worth of cryptocurrency assets on AWS security tools.
