TechFlow reports, according to Cointelegraph, that Stefan Thomas, former CTO of Ripple, owns an IronKey hard drive containing 7,002 BTC (currently worth approximately $243 million), and he has only two password attempts remaining.
In an open letter dated October 25, cryptocurrency recovery firm Unciphered offered to unlock Thomas's IronKey drive. The company claims its team has developed a method to bypass the hardware and access the long-secured BTC private keys. Unciphered states it has successfully retrieved data from a similar IronKey device after "200 trillion attempts," potentially circumventing the drive’s 10-attempt limit.
