TechFlow reports that blockchain analytics firm Elliptic has stated figures describing the scale of Hamas' cryptocurrency fundraising have been exaggerated. Since October 7, Hamas has received only $21,000 in new cryptocurrency donations, most of which have already been frozen. "The unique traceability of these assets means the amounts raised remain small compared to other funding sources."
Elliptic said it had contacted The Wall Street Journal and U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren regarding false claims that Hamas raised millions of dollars via cryptocurrency. Warren previously joined over 100 lawmakers in urging the Biden administration to address terrorist financing through cryptocurrencies.
