TechFlow news, according to The Verge, Microsoft is poised to finalize its $68.7 billion acquisition proposal for Activision Blizzard, with an announcement expected next week and a current deadline set for October 13.
The deal still requires approval from the CMA, which blocked the transaction earlier this year. However, Microsoft recently resubmitted its proposal, transferring cloud gaming rights for Activision Blizzard titles to Ubisoft, securing preliminary approval from the CMA.
Microsoft and Activision recently extended the deal's closing deadline to October 18. Yet, if Microsoft completes the acquisition next week, it would conclude, slightly ahead of schedule, a 20-month-long regulatory review and battle across Europe and the United States.
In January last year, Microsoft announced its $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Upon completion, Microsoft will become the world’s third-largest gaming company by revenue, trailing only Tencent and Sony. Since then, multiple global regulators have investigated the deal. To date, it has been approved in 40 countries, awaiting only final clearance from the UK.
