TechFlow news — On October 3, Roelof Botha, Managing Partner at Sequoia Capital, sat down with Bloomberg's Emily Chang to discuss Sequoia’s investment strategy.
Regarding investment strategy, Roelof emphasized that Sequoia is "focusing on fundamentals." He advised companies to prioritize strengthening their core business fundamentals, as this represents the most critical factor within a company's control. Strong companies can sustain growth in any macroeconomic environment.
Sequoia’s AI investment strategy primarily centers on application-layer opportunities, while also actively pursuing early-stage ventures. Over the past year, 60% of Sequoia’s investments have gone into AI-related areas, including 17 stealth-mode startups and five teams that received term sheets even before officially forming their companies.
Sequoia believes the potential and impact of AI applications are comparable to transformative technologies such as the internet and cloud computing, expressing strong optimism about its future. The firm will continue deepening its focus on early-stage investing to identify outstanding entrepreneurial teams in the AI space. Beyond AI, Sequoia also maintains close attention on sectors including healthcare and defense.
