TechFlow news, on October 2, US prosecutors requested a federal court to allow a Ukrainian witness to testify via video conference, a request that SBF opposes.
In the filing, prosecutors stated that the customer witness, referred to as "FTX Customer-1," resides in Ukraine and "lost most of his life savings entrusted to FTX when the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine broke out in 2022." Due to legal and logistical challenges, the witness cannot easily travel to the United States, and prosecutors are seeking permission for him to testify remotely during SBF's criminal trial.
Earlier, the US Department of Justice confirmed in two documents submitted on Saturday that federal prosecutors intend to call former FTX customers, investors, and employees as witnesses in the trial against SBF. Cooperating witnesses may provide testimony regarding their relationships with the defendant and their understanding of the purposes behind certain statements and actions made by the defendant.
