TechFlow reports that Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, will launch QuarkID, an open-source digital identity protocol based on blockchain, to streamline local citizens' access to public services. The QuarkID wallet is jointly developed by Extrimian, a provider of on-chain digital identity solutions, and Matter Labs, the company behind zkSync Era, integrating document storage via the zkSync Era chain framework, which serves as the settlement layer for the QuarkID platform. The full QuarkID roadmap will be released by the end of the year.
Citizens of Buenos Aires will be able to download the protocol's native wallet to claim important personal documents such as birth and marriage certificates. Starting in November, residents will also be able to obtain income and academic verification within their digital wallets.
