TechFlow reported that in a court filing submitted on September 28, the U.S. Department of Justice stated that the latest request to temporarily release Sam Bankman-Fried—even with strict restrictions—should be denied.
SBF's attorneys have requested his release, stating he agrees to be under supervision outside of court and would refrain from using any electronic devices such as laptops or mobile phones. The U.S. Department of Justice argued that these proposed conditions fail to meet the legal requirements for the defendant, noting in the filing: "The defendant’s generalized claims about the inconveniences of detention simply cannot outweigh the dangers posed by his release, as confirmed by the appellate court record." Judge Lewis Kaplan has scheduled a hearing on this matter for 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time on Thursday.
