TechFlow news, according to Bloomberg, Harvesh Seegolam, Governor of the Bank of Mauritius, said that work on the central bank digital currency (CBDC) has entered an advanced stage and pilot projects will begin in the coming months.
In addition, Seegolam stated that Mauritius is highly interested in establishing digital banks, with several applications currently under development. He also noted that while the central bank remains open to new technologies, the rapid evolution of financial technology brings both risks and benefits. "Nonetheless, we must fully understand its potential impact on economic activity, financial stability, reputation, and even inflation," he said.
