TechFlow reported that U.S. Manhattan District Judge Lewis Kaplan said today prosecutors may discuss Sam Bankman-Fried's political donations in the upcoming trial, as these donations are related to fraud charges faced by the FTX cryptocurrency exchange founder.
Before FTX's collapse, Bankman-Fried was one of the largest donors to Democratic candidates ahead of the November 2022 midterm elections. Kaplan stated that evidence showing the defendant used FTX customer funds for political donations constitutes direct evidence of the wire fraud scheme, as it relates to establishing the defendant's motive and alleged fraudulent intent.
