TechFlow reports, according to an official blog post, the Bitcoin Layer 2 network Stacks has released a blog introducing the developer version of sBTC.
The Stacks ecosystem is preparing for the sBTC developer release, enabling selected developers to build and test using an early version of sBTC—a BTC asset natively backed 1:1 on the Stacks layer. The sBTC testnet will allow users to begin testing deposit and withdrawal processes, while developers in the Bitcoin L2 ecosystem can start integrating these functionalities into their applications via simple APIs and wallets such as Leather and Xverse. In upcoming upgrades, sBTC will be introduced to enable seamless interoperability of Bitcoin across layers, transforming Bitcoin into a fully programmable digital asset.
According to current estimates, the sBTC working group expects to deliver the developer version during the week of October 18. With the release of this version, applications for the incentivized testnet program are now open.
