TechFlow News, Metis announced compensation for users holding METIS on BNB Chain who were affected by the Poly Network attack. They will distribute 117,000 METIS tokens from the Metis Foundation's reserves to impacted users. Meanwhile, Metis plans to implement LayerZero's OFT (Omnichain Fungible Token) standard across its supported blockchains to enhance cross-chain compatibility of the METIS token. The initial chains to be supported include BNB Chain and Avalanche.
Metis also announced an upgrade to LayerZero’s OFT cross-chain standard, enabling native METIS tokens to be seamlessly traded, held, and used across supported blockchains. In addition, Metis will compensate users who suffered losses due to the hacking incident, particularly those who fell victim to scams following the compromise of the MetisDAO Twitter account. Affected users are encouraged to submit support tickets through the Metis Discord channel to verify their on-chain activities and confirm claims.
Earlier reports indicated that Poly Network was attacked on July 1, during which hackers minted over $34 billion worth of assets across multiple chains, including 8,882,912 METIS tokens on BNB Chain. Metis subsequently took action by withdrawing all liquidity from PancakeSwap and Stargate; however, the hacker ultimately stole 117,000 METIS tokens.
