TechFlow news: MetaMask has announced the launch of the Snaps open beta, aiming to expand its use on blockchain networks that are not compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) itself. Snaps will enable MetaMask to operate on non-EVM blockchains, including Cosmos, Solana, and Starknet. MetaMask stated this is the first step toward building a fully permissionless ecosystem using MetaMask. The first iteration of MetaMask Snap is included in plugin version 11.0+, which begins rolling out today (and will soon be available on Firefox).
Snaps are software modules that can be integrated into the MetaMask wallet for various use cases, such as enabling wallet compatibility across multiple blockchain ecosystems through specialized code.
