TechFlow reported, according to CoinDesk, that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) said in a letter on Tuesday that imprisoned former FTX CEO SBF has access seven days a week to a laptop and three hard drives containing defense materials.
SBF's defense team had previously argued that SBF "needed" to be released to prepare his defense, telling Judge Lewis Kaplan, who is overseeing the case, that poor internet speeds and short battery life were limiting the preparation possible before his criminal trial next month. However, the DOJ stated in its letter on Tuesday that the defense team had provided a new battery with "approximately 8 hours of battery life," and daily internet speeds ranging from 7.5 mbps to 34 mbps—speeds deemed sufficient for most online research activities. Many websites indicate that 5 mbps is already sufficient for streaming video.
