TechFlow reports, on August 26, Barnabas Busa, an Ethereum Foundation engineer, tweeted that the genesis file for the Holesky public testnet has been generated and merged into the main branch of the Ethereum client Holesky repository on GitHub. The Holesky public testnet is scheduled to launch on September 15, 2023 at 22:00 Beijing time, with the genesis block featuring 1,460,000 validators—the largest public testnet to date.
The Ethereum Foundation will distribute over 2 billion hETH during the genesis phase. Faucets and RPC endpoints will go live shortly after the genesis event, with additional hETH allocated for deposits. Developers have worked to minimize the size of the genesis state, which still reaches 197MB.
