TechFlow news: The South Korean civic group "Network for Public Disclosure of Assets and Improvement of Information Disclosure Systems" has recently urged expanding the scope of asset disclosures by members of parliament to include spouses' assets, and called for comprehensive investigations into all lawmakers' virtual assets.
The group pointed out that current regulations require only lawmakers themselves to report their virtual assets, which may lead to overlooking assets held under their spouses' names. Additionally, they noted limitations in the current system where a parliamentary advisory body—lacking investigative authority—is responsible for conducting these disclosures.
Previously, the parliamentary advisory body conducted self-reporting on virtual assets for all sitting lawmakers in accordance with new legislation.
