TechFlow news — According to official announcements, the cross-chain protocol Wormhole has launched the Wormhole Foundation, aimed at supporting individuals passionate about research and development in blockchain interoperability technologies.
At the core of the foundation's ecosystem, Wormhole is a modular, open-source technology stack enabling secure message passing across blockchain networks. The foundation’s primary areas of support include:
-
Wormhole Messaging: A decentralized messaging protocol that blockchain developers can leverage to enable the flow of information and value across different networks.
-
Wormhole Guardians: A decentralized network composed of 19 validating nodes that monitor supported blockchains and generate verifiable attestations for message transfers.
-
xGrants Program: Funding for open-source software development and research, with a particular focus on innovation in cross-chain protocols and applications.
-
Cross-chain Ecosystem Fund: A $50 million fund managed by Borderless Capital to support next-generation cross-chain Web3 applications integrating the Wormhole Stack.
-
Wormhole Fellowship: A global team of volunteers contributing skills, knowledge, event organization, localization, and other efforts to the Wormhole community.
The foundation is co-led by Robinson Burkey and Dan Reecer. It aims to advance the development of a decentralized internet through technological innovation, enabling information and value to move freely and securely across networks.
