TechFlow reported, according to Cointelegraph, that Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives have formed a task force on artificial intelligence aimed at advancing legislation for new AI regulations.
The task force, consisting of 97 members, will collaborate with government agencies, businesses, and bipartisan lawmakers to develop bipartisan policies regarding this emerging technology.
The task force's top priority is combating the spread of misinformation, expressing concerns over the growing prevalence online of sophisticated AI-generated deepfakes.
Task Force Chair Derek Kilmer stated that AI-generated disinformation is becoming increasingly severe and requires swift congressional action.
Previously, both political and tech leaders have repeatedly called attention to the potential risks of AI.
