TechFlow reports, according to research by information service provider Bankinform, many Russians are interested in news regarding the potential launch of a digital ruble. However, 32% of respondents disapprove of this monetary product, considering it "some kind of fraud."
The study shows that 13% of respondents are closely following developments around the digital ruble and intend to use it once launched. These participants also indicated they see new opportunities arising from the upcoming CBDC. One in three respondents admitted they have followed news about the new digital form of Russia's national currency but have no intention of using it. Over 21% showed no interest in the topic at all. The most striking response came from 32% of respondents who labeled Russia's CBDC as "some kind of fraud."
It was reported that Olga Skorobogatova, Deputy Chairwoman of the Central Bank of Russia, announced pilot testing of the digital ruble will take place in Moscow and 10 other cities. A dozen Russian banks will participate in the trials, with live transactions scheduled to begin on August 15. Additionally, Moscow will launch digital ruble payments within its public transportation system.
