TechFlow news: Google Play has updated its policy on tokenized digital assets, allowing developers to integrate NFTs and other digital assets into apps and games on its app store. Companies choosing to offer features for purchasing, selling, or earning tokenized assets will need to explicitly declare in the Play Console the presence of blockchain-based elements within their applications.
Joseph Mills, Group Product Manager at Google Play, said this would give partners the opportunity to rethink "user-owned content in traditional games" and enhance user loyalty through NFT rewards.
A Google Play spokesperson revealed that the new feature is expected to undergo initial testing by late summer, with the new policy rolling out fully later this year.
