TechFlow news: Arkham CEO Miguel Morel tweeted that Arkham's referral links now include the referrer's email address encoded with Base64. This system is designed to track users' referral activities via email and reward them accordingly. However, Morel emphasized that this is not intended to collect users' email addresses, as users have already provided their own email when registering on the platform and obtaining referral links. These email addresses will not be used for any other purposes beyond communication and tracking referral activities.
Similar to most referral programs, when a referral link was previously shared, the registration page would always display the referrer's email address to prove the legitimacy of the invitation to the invited user. However, with exponential growth in user base, Arkham has decided to improve this system. Going forward, all referral links will contain an encrypted version of the referrer's email address to prevent reverse engineering. This change is already in effect.
It was reported that earlier Arkham referral links circulating within the community were simply Base64-encoded email addresses, meaning users who shared these links might have inadvertently exposed their personal email addresses. To protect user privacy, Arkham has implemented encryption for referral links.
