TechFlow reports that BNB Chain has launched the opBNB testnet, an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible chain built on Optimism's OP Stack. Developers said in a press release sent to CoinDesk that they expect the opBNB testnet to achieve transaction speeds of 4,000 transactions per second at a cost of just $0.00005 per transaction. These speeds are comparable to blockchains like Arbitrum and twice as fast as BNB Chain, significantly surpassing Ethereum’s 30 transactions per second.
The testnet is a simulated blockchain designed to mimic real-world usage, enabling developers to test applications and complex tools before deploying them on the mainnet. The opBNB mainnet is expected to launch in the third quarter of this year.
