TechFlow news — Menlo Ventures, one of Silicon Valley's oldest venture capital firms, has announced that Amy Wu, former head of FTX Ventures, has joined the firm as a Market Partner based in New York, focusing on consumer startups.
Shawn Carolan, a partner at Menlo Ventures, said Wu’s deep expertise in behavioral psychology, gaming, and the creator economy will complement the firm’s consumer tech investment strategy, particularly at the intersection of AI and consumer applications.
In addition, Wu will represent Menlo Ventures in expanding its presence in the New York market. While one of Wu’s designated focus areas is “blockchain,” Carolan emphasized the firm will not engage in cryptocurrency speculation or similar activities.
Regarding FTX, Wu described it as a challenging situation marked by significant regulatory and fraud-related issues. Menlo Ventures views her as a strong fit and believes she was deceived just like many others.
