TechFlow reports that on June 14, Nicholas Wu, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and a Hong Kong Legislative Council member, posted on Twitter stating, "I have contacted Coinbase and will work together to explore opportunities for development in Hong Kong. I will notify everyone here when there is further news!" Previously, Wu had expressed that he welcomes global virtual asset exchanges (including Coinbase) to apply for compliance as licensed exchanges in Hong Kong and discuss listing plans, and he is willing to offer assistance.
Recently, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) officially filed a lawsuit against Coinbase (COIN), alleging that the largest U.S. cryptocurrency platform violated rules requiring it to register as an exchange and submit to oversight by the federal agency.
