TechFlow reports that Aave has published an ARFC proposal on its governance forum regarding the launch of Aave's native stablecoin GHO on the mainnet. The proposal suggests using the Aave V3 Ethereum Facilitator and FlashMinter Facilitator to bring GHO to the Ethereum mainnet. If this ARFC and the subsequent AIP proposal are approved by the Aave DAO, GHO will go live on the Ethereum mainnet. Users of Aave V3 on Ethereum will then be able to mint GHO using collateral, and the DAO treasury will receive 100% of the lending interest generated from GHO as additional revenue.
Notably, Facilitator is a concept introduced with GHO, allowing certain entities—such as protocols or organizations—to mint or burn a specific amount of GHO. The Aave V3 Ethereum Facilitator enables users to deposit collateral to borrow GHO, with the collateral held in the V3 Ethereum mainnet pool. The FlashMinter Facilitator allows users to FlashMint GHO (similar to flash loans) and repay it within a single transaction, rather than borrowing assets from a pool. Additionally, Aave Companies stated that after GHO launches on the mainnet, they will propose a multi-chain strategy to the community.
