TechFlow news — Catherine Gu, Visa's head of CBDC and protocols, said that Visa's cryptocurrency team is still in its early stages and currently lacks a clearly defined roadmap. However, the team is actively exploring topics such as account abstraction, interoperability, scalability, and privacy.
Catherine Gu stated, “We really need to deeply understand this technology—that’s a core objective for our product team… As blockchain technology matures, privacy will be a critical focus area at the consumer, institutional, and even central bank levels. I believe it’s essential to understand the implications and design considerations behind privacy in the future.”
Earlier, Visa published an article titled “Rethinking Digital Transactions with Account Abstraction.” The article explained that to better understand Ethereum’s account abstraction proposal ERC-4337, Visa has deployed two experimental Visa Paymaster contracts on the Ethereum Goerli testnet, demonstrating how gas fees on blockchains can be redesigned to enhance user convenience.
