TechFlow news, Cosmos recently announced the integration of the new NFT interoperability standard ICS-721, which will allow users to transfer their NFTs across blockchains without using bridge protocols.
According to Maria Gomez, Managing Director of the Interchain Foundation, the standard supports integration of NFTs across multiple domains including gaming, web3 identity protocols, and social platforms.
The ICS-721 NFT standard is a collaborative project between the Interchain Foundation and Bianjie, aiming to add utility to cross-chain NFTs by enabling interchain interoperability. The standard will be available across all blockchains supporting Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC), including Ethereum, Substrate, CosmWasm, and Cosmos SDK, with plans to expand support to more ecosystems.
ICS-721 underwent beta testing in March 2023, when Bianjie and the Interchain Foundation launched a two-phase hackathon called Game of NFTs. The first phase reportedly attracted 198 participating teams globally.
