TechFlow news: Argentina's central bank is banning payment platforms from offering digital assets such as Bitcoin to customers, aiming to "mitigate risks."
In a statement, the Central Bank of Argentina said, "Payment service providers offering payment accounts may not engage in or facilitate transactions involving digital assets—including crypto assets—that are not regulated by national authorities and authorized by the Central Bank of Argentina (BCRA)." However, the statement did not elaborate on the specific reasons, only indicating that the measure is intended to protect customers.
Previously, several prominent companies, including fintech giant Ualá and online marketplace Mercado Libre, offered cryptocurrency trading services to their customers.
