TechFlow news: Twitter user @bitrabbit_btc reported that blogger Super Testnet discovered a bug in the Ordinals program. Specifically, inscription number 3492721 was inscribed and assigned an ID even though both its input and output values were zero.
The founder of Ordinals stated that the issue can be resolved through a software upgrade, but this would affect the numbering of all inscriptions after 3492721.
Nonetheless, before any upgrade takes place, Super Testnet quickly released a guide and called for others to carry out the same exploit. His actions may reflect opposition to such inscription activities on Bitcoin L1 that consume Bitcoin block space. He also published a design document for a sidechain called Spacechain, suggesting that inscription activities should instead take place on Layer 2.
