TechFlow reported, according to TechCrunch, that OpenAI, the startup behind ChatGPT, has raised $300 million at a valuation of between $27 billion and $29 billion.
Venture capital firms including Tiger Global, Sequoia Capital, a16z, Thrive, K2 Global, and Founders Fund participated in the round. A source familiar with the matter said this funding is separate from Microsoft’s massive investment earlier this year in January.
The Microsoft investment, confirmed by sources, was around $10 billion. External investors collectively now hold over 30% of OpenAI’s shares, according to reports.
