TechFlow reports, according to the Associated Press, a federal judge in Brazil has ordered a temporary block of Telegram, citing the messaging app's failure to provide information about neo-Nazi groups as requested by federal police. Local ISPs (internet service providers) have complied with the order, restricting access to Telegram, while Google and Apple have also been instructed to remove Telegram from their platforms.
According to court documents provided by the office of the judiciary, the judge has increased the penalty for non-compliance from 100,000 reais per day to 1 million reais (approximately 1.37 million RMB). Telegram has not yet commented on the matter.
