TechFlow, according to The Information citing two people familiar with the matter, artificial intelligence startup Anthropic has raised $300 million at a pre-money valuation of $4.1 billion, led by Spark Capital. One of the sources said that prior to this deal, Google invested $400 million in the startup.
The new funding will add to the $1.1 billion Anthropic previously raised from early investors including Google, Skype co-founder Jaan Tallinn, and former FTX CEO SBF. It remains unclear whether the new valuation represents a significant premium over Anthropic’s April 2022 valuation. Earlier, Anthropic had told some potential investors it was seeking a valuation of at least $5 billion.
Earlier reports indicated that in January this year, sources revealed AI startup Anthropic was close to raising around $300 million in new funding, which could value the company at approximately $5 billion, though the final valuation was not yet confirmed. Founded in 2021, Anthropic secured a $124 million Series A round in 2021 and raised $580 million in a Series B round in 2022 led by former FTX CEO SBF.Original link
