TechFlow news, Polygon announced that the Polygon PoS chain hard fork upgrade will take place on January 17. The hard fork is coded at block height >= 38,189,056 and will launch without influence from any centralized or single participant. Network validators must update their nodes before the specified block height. MATIC token holders and delegators do not need to take any action, and applications will not be affected during the hard fork.
According to reports, among the 15 voters in the Polygon governance team, 87% voted in favor of changing the BaseFeeChangeDenominator parameter from the current value of 8 to 16 to reduce gas fee spikes, and reducing the SprintLength parameter from 64 blocks to 16 blocks to address chain reorganization issues.
Earlier reports indicated that developers of the Polygon PoS blockchain proposed initiating a hard fork software upgrade to resolve gas fee spikes and blockchain reorganization issues. Source link
